Using nature as a blueprint, NanotecMARIN is developing natural polymers such as biopolyphosphates and biocalcites that are capable of promoting the proliferation, differentiation and biological activity of human cells including bone and cartilage cells. Scaffolds/implants can be fabricated from these morphogenetically active polymers, which are characterized by superior biocompatibility, bioresorbability, stability and biointegration. The inorganic biomaterial underlying these scaffolds has advantageous properties compared to conventional materials used for bone and cartilage repair. In addition to various tissue implants, artificial blood vessels as well as materials for dental care/tooth sealing as well as for wound healing can be produced.
